UK bid to host ABTA conference
VISIT Britain has made an informal approach about England hosting the 2008 Association of British Travel Agents annual travel convention.
Chief executive Tom Wright has written to ABTA saying VistBritain would be "delighted" if England were to be chosen to host next year's event.
He said the tourism body would like to offer its support to make this happen in 2008. Manchester has been put forward by leading travel agents as a preferred venue.
Tom said: "We believe that the case for a domestic event is stronger than ever.
