THE manager of a leading Lake District Hotel is gearing up for the BUPA Great North Run, in a bid to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Emma Johnson, of the Cranleigh Boutique in Bowness-on-Windermere, is taking place in the charitable event in Newcastle on Sunday, along with 56,000 other runners.
Emma has been training for four months to run the 13.1 miles required to complete the race, although it's not the first time she has competed.
She said: "This will be the fourth time I have run the BUPA Great North Run and each time for a different charity.
"This year, I have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as I know friends who have benefitted from their skills. It offers a fantastic service to both patients and their families and I am delighted to be able to donate to this extremely worthwhile cause."
