Blackpool battles on despite casino defeat

BLACKPOOL has vowed to keep fighting after the town lost out to Manchester in the race to host the country's first super casino.
The town was considered to be amongst the favourites to be awarded a casino, which would hopefully assist in regenerating the area and reversing its declining tourism industry.
Chief executive of Blackpool Council, Steve Weaver said: "We are surprised and hugely disappointed by the Casino Advisory Panel's recommendation but we are not giving up.
"This is an enormous missed opportunity for Blackpool to become a world-class resort destination.
"We are also the people's choice nationally having received well over twice as much support as any other location.
