Action plan to lift area's tourism profile

DEVELOPING West Oxfordshire as a must-see destination and increasing visitor spending are the main aims of a new district council action plan.
Following consultation with the local industry and national partners, the Council has published a Tourism Strategy setting out how it plans to work with key organisations and local businesses to increase tourism's contribution to the economy between now and 2012.
Around 3.7m people visit the district each year and it is estimated that this generates £225m annually and supports about 4,000 jobs.
