Shakespeare's Globe

The Globe Theatre is a faithful reconstruction of the Elizabethan playhouse and represents a unique international resource dedicated to the exploration of Shakespeare's work and the playhouse for which he wrote.

Theatre:
The 2008 theatre season runs from April 23rd until October 6th and features four productions of Shakespeare's work ,including A Midsummer Night's Dream & King Lear, as well as two modern plays.
Each year the Globe Theatre Company rediscovers the dynamic relationship between the audience and the actor in this unique building. The Globe also welcomes international theatre companies to share the impact Shakespeare's plays have had worldwide. Today, audiences of this wooden O sit in a gallery or stand informally as a groundling in the yard, just as they would have done 400 years ago.

Exhibition & Tours:
The recently revamped Shakespeare's Globe Exhibition brings Shakespeare's world to life using a range of interactive displays and live demonstrations which explore the roles of the actor, musician and audience.
Throughout the year a fascinating guided tour of the Globe Theatre is included in a visit to Shakespeare's Globe Exhibition. Let one of our guides bring this extraordinary space to life. During the summer months visitors are also taken to the nearby site of Bankside's first theatre : The Rose.
